What is First Step and how does it work?
First Step is a modern baby shower experience with a twist — a gamified calendar where friends and family guess the baby's birthday, leave wishes, and send gifts. You create a calendar for the last month of pregnancy, share a unique link, and loved ones join in the fun.
Who can create a page on First Step?
Anyone! You can create a calendar for your own baby or as a surprise for a friend. Just provide the email where wishes should be sent and the PayPal account to receive funds.
Is this a savings account or a gift registry?
It's a gift platform — not a savings or financial product. Funds are sent directly to the PayPal account provided. You're free to use the funds however you wish, though we encourage future-focused goals.
What happens with the money that's contributed?
All contributions are sent directly to the recipient's PayPal. The calendar creator controls the funds and decides how they're used.
Can anyone contribute, or just invited people?
Anyone with the link can participate. Share it with friends, family, coworkers — through Instagram, WhatsApp, email, wherever you like.
Do I need to create an account to give a gift?
No account is needed. Just enter your name and email so the recipient knows who the gift and message are from.
Is there a fee to use the platform?
There's a one-time fee to create a calendar. We don't take a cut of your gifts — payment processing fees are handled by providers like PayPal.
How do I know the money goes to the right person?
Each calendar is linked to the PayPal account provided during setup, and all contributions are directed there.
Can I write a personal message along with my contribution?
Yes! You'll be able to leave a wish or message when selecting your date. These are sent to the recipient by email and available on the calendar.
How secure is my payment and personal information?
All payments go through PayPal and are protected by industry-standard encryption and fraud protection.
What makes First Step different from other baby registries?
It's interactive, fun, and international. Anyone can join, guess the birth date, leave a message, and send a gift — making it the perfect way to celebrate, even from afar.
Is this a one-time gift, or can people contribute multiple times?
Both options are welcome. Contributors can return to give again at any time.
Can I track how much has been contributed?
All funds go directly to your PayPal account. You can track everything from there. The platform does not collect or display the total.
Can I choose the amount I give?
Yes. You'll be asked for your intended amount, but the final amount can differ based on what you send through PayPal.
Can I withdraw the money immediately?
It depends on PayPal's processing time and your account settings. Usually, funds are available within a few business days.
Who decides where the money is saved or invested?
You do! While we suggest thoughtful uses like savings or investments, you're free to use the funds as needed.
Can I use First Step if I don't live in the U.S.?
Yes! Our platform is open worldwide. Anyone can create or participate — no matter where they live.
Can I customize the child's celebration page?
Yes, you can choose one of several background colors when setting up your calendar.
What if I made a mistake in my contribution—can I change or cancel it?
Please contact our support team as soon as possible. We'll do our best to assist before the payment is finalized.
Will people be notified when the baby is born?
Yes! Once you announce the birth date, everyone who participated will receive a celebration email with the news.
